The Kiozwi Story – From Passion to Purpose

Founded by Christina Thomas in early 2012, Kiozwi began as a creative passion project – a love for beautifully crafted, high-quality soy candles that sparked something bigger.

Growing up, items like fine linen, china, crystal… even candles were tucked away “for a special occasion” that rarely, if ever, came. But at Kiozwi, we believe in celebrating every day. Our candles – with their calming scents and warm glow – are made to be enjoyed, not stored.

Each Kiozwi candle is hand-poured in small batches, sometimes just two or three at a time, to ensure the highest level of craftsmanship and care. This attention to detail is at the heart of everything we do.

What started as an online store and a few local Melbourne markets quickly gained momentum thanks to the incredible support of our customers and fellow makers. One question we kept hearing at markets was:
“Do you have a shop?”
That simple question planted a seed.

By December 2013, that seed blossomed into our first retail store. It wasn’t just about showcasing Kiozwi products anymore – it became a space to support and share the work of other talented local artists we’d met along the way.

Over time, customer feedback and community support helped us expand even further. In addition to our signature soy candles, Kiozwi now offers a curated range of home fragrance products – including room mists, reed diffusers, and soy melts – plus an ever-growing selection of thoughtful gifts, games and toys for all ages.

Where to next for Kiozwi? We’re not entirely sure – and that’s the exciting part. After all, we live by a little mantra that continues to guide us:
“Resist the usual.”
